My journey as a New Entrepreneur (NE) began with a strong foundation: a detailed business plan aimed at serving the specialized computer service needs in Priekule, Latvia. The six-month exchange under the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program with my Host Entrepreneur (HE) unfolded as a series of eye-opening experiences and learning opportunities.

Throughout the exchange, I immersed myself in the HE’s IT business, absorbing knowledge about advanced project management, effective teamwork, and strategic business planning. Under the HE’s mentorship, I honed my time management and working methodologies, crucial for the smooth operation of a tech business.

One of the key learning aspects was understanding the financial side of the business. I gained practical insights into fee calculation, cost management, and budgeting. These financial skills are vital for the long-term sustainability and growth of my envisoned business, RaivoCF.

Guided by the HE, I learned to navigate various business challenges, including unforeseen situations and complex client relationships. The HE’s experience in customer retention strategies and client management significantly influenced my approach to these aspects.

A pivotal part of the program was learning the importance of building valuable partnerships. I explored potential collaborations in the IT market, which not only enriched my entrepreneurial skills but also significantly expanded my professional network.

The feedback and discussions with the HE were instrumental in refining my business plan. We engaged in deep discussions about ethical practices in IT, which helped me incorporate these values into my business model.

The program also facilitated a cross-cultural exchange, bringing diverse viewpoints and enhancing creativity within the HE’s team. My contributions to HE’s projects introduced fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, proving beneficial for both parties.

The program concluded with a final evaluation and feedback from the HE, providing me with a clearer vision for RaivoCF. We also discussed potential future collaborations, opening doors for long-term benefits for both my startup and the HE’s business.

Moreover, the program not only fostered my growth as a NE but also significantly impacted my HE’s business. My fresh perspectives and innovative ideas were well-received by the HE. The introduction of new methodologies and technologies from my end led to more efficient processes within her IT projects. This exchange of ideas fostered a culture of innovation and creativity in the HE’s team. My approach to problem-solving and decision-making added value to the HE’s existing practices.

Reflecting on this transformative journey, I am grateful for the wealth of knowledge, skills, and networks I gained. The Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program has indeed been a cornerstone in my entrepreneurial journey, equipping me to steer RaivoCF toward a successful future. Furthermore, it is clear that the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program was not just a learning curve for me as an NE, but also a valuable experience for the HE, catalyzing growth and innovation in her business.
